Teeth are for Eating, Not Opening Gifts

Posted .

Believe it or not, there are lots of things that people use their teeth for they shouldn’t. From penetrating plastic to crushing nut shells, we’ve seen many teeth harmed after inappropriate usage. Sadly, during this season, we see an increase in this type of problem. Here are some things you can monitor to keep yourself safe and your teeth in one piece.

During this time of year, many people use their teeth to open gifts: don’t do this! Your teeth are designed for grinding, slicing, tearing and chewing food, but not for opening presents! If you open a gift with your teeth, you might be in for a major restorative checkup with our staff. Another issue we’ve seen is people opening alcohol and soda bottles with their teeth: we can’t stress enough how hurtful this is! Spend a little bit of extra time to find a bottle opener and save yourself a lot of time and hurt from fixing broken teeth.

Pencil in your appointment with Dr. Jeremy Johnson by dialing 360-799-5348, and the Monroe Smiles staff in Monroe, Washington, will take care of you. Do your best not to open presents with your teeth, and we’ll congratulate you on your patience during your next exam! Have a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year!
