Inlays & Onlays in Monroe, WA Inlays and onlays are for use in cavities where a filling is not enough to provide coverage, but a crown is too excessive. Onlays are, however, sometimes called three-quarter crowns. Inlays and onlays have a similar process to one another, with the only major difference being the amount of coverage they provide. Inlay and Onlay ConstructionAt Monroe Smiles we offer porcelain inlays/onlays. Porcelain is the most natural-looking material and is also stain resistant. Our office can craft an inlay or onlay on the same day as your dental treatment. These are crafted using a computer software that creates a digital model of your tooth. A machine then constructs your restoration based on the digital model. Difference Between Inlays and OnlaysInlays are smaller than onlays and they only cover the grooves on the top of your teeth, not the cusp. These are more similar to traditional fillings than onlays are. Onlays cover a larger area, including the cusp of your tooth. For this reason, onlays should ideally be made of more durable materials. However, durable materials are also needed for any restoration on the back teeth. Get Your Inlay Or Onlay TodayFor additional information on inlays and onlays, call Monroe Smiles at (360) 467-6386. |
