How long have you been with Monroe Smiles?
With Jeremy? Since he was born–he’s my brother!

With Dr. Johnson? Since October 2016

Why do you do what you do?
Many industries have a stigma attached to them, and dentistry is no exception. I love having the opportunity to change people’s perceptions. When a patient comes to our office, they have a totally unique, enjoyable, and unexpected experience. And our online patient reviews are a testament to that.

What do you love about your work?
I love our team. They are fun, competent, and passionate. We have a blast working together. And yes, practical jokes are involved. I also love the satisfaction of knowing our patients are receiving dental care that is second to none, in a relaxing and comfortable environment.

What do you do with your time off?
That’s none of your business, and I’ll thank you to stay out of my personal affairs. Just kidding! I love golfing, reading, traveling, watching movies, road trips with my wife, and hanging out and playing games with my kids (X4). I like spending time in California in the winter, and then in the summer, I like to spend time in California.

Breanna – Scheduling Coordinator

How long have you been with Monroe Smiles?
Since June 2017.

Why do you do what you do?
People sometimes feel anxious about visiting the dentist. Experiencing the “here and now” with every patient to create a safe space for them is a big motivator for me.

What do you love about your work?
I just love people. I’m the first person most patients see when they come through the door, which means I have the honor–and responsibility–of setting the tone for their entire visit. Being able to chat with them–even for just a few minutes–means I can learn a little bit about their story and help them forget any stress they had when they walked in.

What do you do with your time off?
I love spending time with my husband, Jordan, and our miniature schnauzers, Pepper and Ozzie. We love to spend time in Chelan, but when we’re home, we enjoy working in our garden and beekeeping (we have two hives, with queens named Beyoncé–obviously–and Big Booty Judy). I enjoy a good long walk on the beach and a game of cribbage. It’s also important I never miss an episode of Jeopardy.

Autumn – Patient Care Coordinator

How long have you been with Monroe Smiles?
Since July 2017- best day of my life!

Why do you do what you do?
Going to the dentist can be a stressful event for some people–then add on insurance and billing? That can be stressful for anyone! I like being able to take a stressful and overwhelming part of a visit and make it lighter and more enjoyable for everyone. I appreciate working together with both the doctor and the patient to create the best treatment plan for each person. Helping our patients become their healthiest selves is the best part of my job.

What do you love about your work?
Hands down the best part of my job is the people I get to work with! The entire staff is like a family.

What do you do with your time off?
I am so lucky to live where I like to call “Fern Gully”–over a bridge and through the woods–where all spring, summer and fall I have bonfires, play lawn games and swim in the creek! I love having friends over to enjoy it with me. I also spend time with my nine nieces and nephews–I’m their favorite auntie!

Education
Lake Washington Technical Center: Associate of Science in dental hygiene, registered dental hygienist (RDH)

How long have you been with Monroe Smiles?
Since November 2015.

Why do you do what you do?
I chose to become a dental hygienist because I wanted to help people and because I grew up having problems with my own teeth. I wanted to help educate people so that they can have healthy teeth for a lifetime.

What do you love about your work?
I love helping people to achieve healthy gums and teeth…which helps them to be healthier overall! I also love having the opportunity to get to know my patients and their families.

What do you do with your time off?
When I’m not at work, I like to hike, camp (well, maybe more like “glamp”), go boating, read, and spend time with my family and friends.

Emily – Registered Dental Hygienist

Education
AA/AS, Shoreline Community College

How long have you been with Monroe Smiles?
Since September 2013.

Why do you do what you do?
I spent a lot of time as a child in the dental chair because my parents and I were not well educated in dental hygiene. I am very passionate about educating my patients on how to take care of their overall health so they can have a better experience.

What do you love about your work?
Seeing my patients improve their oral health after I have educated them is very rewarding. I also love getting to know my patients and their families on a personal level.

What do you do with your time off?
I love spending time with my husband, my three daughters, and two golden retrievers. When we are not all running around doing sports, we like to be outside and spend time with friends and family.

Since September 2015.

Why do you do what you do?
I love how beautiful and unique each patient’s smile is. More than anything, I enjoy helping patients feel confident and love their own smiles!

What do you love about your work?
Getting to know each patient I meet–whether we laugh, console, or reminisce! It is a joy to meet new people and to hear stories about their lives…and to hear singing all around the office!

What do you do with your time off?
On my time off, I love taking my daughter on walks or drives all around this beautiful state. I love being with my friends and family, reading, being outdoors, and spur-of-the-moment road trips!

Kaitlynn – Registered Dental Assistant

How long have you been with Monroe Smiles?
Since June 2017

Why do you do what you do?
Being able to educate people on such an important part of their lives and health–their dental health–brings me joy and satisfaction. Seeing patients’ self-esteem boost after helping to make their smile better is the best!

What do you love about your work?
I love that each day and each patient is so different. It keeps me on my toes and constantly learning more. I also love the people I work with–we have so much fun!

What do you do with your time off?
I am currently spending most of my off time planning my wedding–that alone is a full-time job! But after that, I enjoy spending time with my amazing fiancé, Hayden, our families, and friends. I also enjoy a good wine and sip on a night off! Lastly, I grew up working on a dairy farm and showing cows, so anytime free time I get I like to spend with Bessy, Nettie and Dorothy at the fair.
